I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now and had to share!
I got home from work feeling really hot and bothered- had a stressful day and was annoyed at myself for not going to the gym after work, or going running at lunchtime and thinking that I really should be making more effort with my new fitness plan. It's all very well doing something on one day and thinking that justifies me having a day (or two or three) off to "recover"...I find it so much harder to make myself get back into the rhythm if I break the routine of exercising.
So I washed up whilst giving myself a talking to (!) and then put on my trainers and kit and headed outside. I didn't take my heart rate monitor, just plugged into MapMyRun on my phone and continued listening to the Shakespeare podcasts I started in the bath yesterday! I thought that without having the watch on my wrist counting time, I could just run until I felt like I couldn't anymore rather than thinking "I'll run for 2 minutes and then walk". This seemed to really work and I ran for so much longer than I ever have before outside! I think it helped being distracted by listening to something else, and I saw a few other runners who said hi which was nice π
