Sydney Accommodation - The Bayswater Hotel
In Sydney we stayed in a really nice hotel, which just happened to be located in a not-so-nice area of Sydney (the red light district!). Kings Cross is a lovely part of Sydney during the day with heaps of restaurants, cafรฉs and little shops. In fact, there was an awesome cafรฉ literally just outside the Bayswater where we had breakfast on several occasions. However, at night it was rather noisy and rowdy, due to the fact that there are many pubs, bars, strip clubs and sleazy joints! We did think about going out for a drink or two but after hearing on the news about people getting bottled and stabbed, we decided against it! Eeek!
We paid a cheaper rate which meant we didn't get housekeeping, but that wasn't really a problem. We were there for 5 days and didn't really make a mess of things! Haha... The reception staff were helpful and let us leave our bags in a locked storage area on the day that we checked out, as we didn't need to be at the airport until the evening. We booked an airport transfer with the hotel as well, but I wouldn't recommend that at all! The driver that they used was awful- one passenger nearly threw up, and I was amazed that we didn't lose the trailer with our bags in along the way!
However, the Bayswater Hotel is a cheap and comfortable place to stay in Sydney, and was within easy walking distance of all the attractions- it took us about 15minutes to get to the city centre, and was good value for a city hotel. We loved all the restaurants on the doorstep too- I'll do a food related post at some point, there was far too much eaten during our holiday, it deserves it's own feature! ๐
