On Saturday we decided to go and make the most of the sunshine with a little trip along the river.
We'd been looking at The Canoe Man for canoe/kayak hire, so decided to spontaneously turn up in Wroxham to see if they had any free. All their canoes were booked out, but we managed to get a double kayak which I think turned out to be better. We've done kayaking before, and it's generally quicker than canoeing so we got to see more of the river during our half day (3hours for Β£35).
The weather was glorious and it was a lovely afternoon paddling from Wroxham to Coltishall and back- approximately 4.5miles each way, so 9 miles in total- no wonder my arms ache now!!
I enjoyed looking at all the big houses that back onto the river, with their gorgeous gardens and own private moorings. I'd love to live in one! Maybe one day...
We saw lots of wildlife on our trip too- swans, Canada geese, moorhens, a heron, dragonflies, and lots of fish!
After our trip we needed refuelling so we headed up the river (in the car) to Horning. This is a tiny village with an awesome delicatessen where we picked up some food.
A "Hornish" pasty, and some cheese and olives for later- yum! π
