Afternoon Tea

On Sunday I met up with a friend for afternoon tea at a newly discovered cafe, Biddy's Tea Room. It's an eclectic place with a crazy mix of furniture and decoration, lots of flowery china and lace doilies as well as cool posters and artwork. Downstairs are comfy armchairs where you can have tea and scones/muffins/pastries, and then upstairs are proper tables where they serve their High Tea and Afternoon Tea.

We opted for Afternoon Tea to share, which consisted of 2 choices of finger sandwiches, 2 choices of cake/scones and a pot of tea, all for Β£13.45.

There was a great choice of sandwich fillings- we opted for 1) Norfolk ham, chilli jam and Somerset brie and 2) Roast chicken, cranberry stuffing and port chutney, but it was quite difficult to decide! Both were delicious πŸ™‚

The selection of cake was equally challenging! They were all displayed on stands at the counter and looked amazing. We went for a chocolate and ginger slice, and a spice apple bake. I loved the spiced apple one- it was very similar to a carrot cake with the cream cheese frosting, and that's my favourite cake choice usually so this was a definite hit! The chocolate and ginger was nice too, although a little dry- but it was the last piece left, so that might have been why.

Being a tea room they also had a wide variety of teas, with over 30 choices available!
