Sunday night was the big Christmas Lights Switch-On at River Green in Thorpe, near where we live…
…so we decided to wander down and enjoy the festivities. (Mark recently bought a new camera so it also gave him a chance to play around with it! Thanks Mark for the photos for this post.)
I love the sky in this photo 🙂 |
There were quite a lot of people and they’d closed the road for a few hours as well.
We wandered among the craft stalls, as well as vendors selling food, mulled wine, chestnuts, and lots of Christmassy fare!
I especially loved all the handmade jewellery.
There were even some rides for the kids to enjoy- proper old fashioned pirate boats, and chair-o-planes- looked like great fun!
After a while the local church group launched into some carols, accompanied by instruments- they handed out carol sheets to some members of the crowd and people stood around joining in.
After that Santa arrived with his reindeer! 🙂
Remember to put a carrot out for them on Christmas Eve 🙂
The evening was rounded off as Santa switched on the Christmas Lights – beautiful!
I feel all Christmassy now- anyone for a mince pie?
