WIAW: What I Ate Wednesday 12

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!

After Write This Run on Sunday I have so many blog ideas swirling round my brain, I just want to write them all down quickly before I forget! Despite the influx of inspiration, I do want to stick with some of my regular features like WIAW, or Weekly Workout Recap, or Fun Friday Links- ok, so they may not all be entirely original features, but I think that a big part of blogging is connecting with other people, and the "What I Ate" party definitely enables that πŸ™‚

Anyway, here are the fun things I ate yesterday (Tuesday)...

Breakfast
Cup of tea whilst chatting to Mark on Skype πŸ™‚

Followed by poached eggs on toast...

I had a guy come to look at our dishwasher in the morning, who unfortunately gave me bad news πŸ™ At least it is a rented property so our landlord should sort things, but of course that sometimes ends up taking twice as long as if you could just go and buy a new one yourself.

Ah well, I'm still capable of washing up in the sink (although Mark may disagree...)!

When the guy left I headed into work...

Lunch
Lunch was a salad which we were given after the Elle/Nike run club I went to on Monday evening - I didn't fancy it at the time, running usually makes me more thirsty afterwards than hungry, so I saved it for lunch. It was a lovelyΒ Black lentil, feta and mint healthpot from Crussh- yum!

I had 3 mini oatcake biscuits on the side, and 2 kiwis.

Afternoon snack
After some more work I had a break with a hot mug of green tea!

And later on snacked on a banana and some popchips.

These were in my Write This Run goody bag, and while I'm not usually a fan of crisps I did quite like the popchips!

They're only 95 calories per bag, and are apparently potato flakes "popped" rather than baked or fried, which means the amount of fat per bag is 3.2g, approximately 50% less than a bag of regular crisps.

They definitely felt less greasy, and had a nice crunch to them πŸ™‚

Dinner
For dinner I put together a salad based around these amazing Oak roasted tomatoes I picked up at Borough Market on Saturday - they're so tasty!

I cooked some new potatoes (and a random leftover parsnip) and tossed them on a bed of salad leaves, along with chopped avocado, some sliced chicken breast and the amazing tomatoes- I drizzled a bit of the smokey oil over the salad too, yum!

I spent the rest of the evening chilling listening to the rain, and furiously blogging!

Blogging fuel consisted of a mug of Choco Chilli Yogi Tea- an amazing warming flavour, and I love the little phrases on the teabags πŸ™‚

I may also have succumbed to the last lonely peanut butter chocolate brownie that Mark and I bought at the Farmer's Market over a week ago now! I'm pretty amazed it lasted this long! It had gone a little stale but nothing a quick 20secs in the microwave couldn't fix...

What "healthy" food alternatives have you been pleasantly surprised by? And have you discovered any amazing foods at your local market?
