Monday- REST
Tuesday- Run 2miles
Wednesday- Crossfit 7-8pm
Thursday- Crossfit 7-8am
Friday- REST
Saturday- REST
Sunday- Wimbledon 5k
After recovering from my cold I managed to get out for a short run on Tuesday, but it was pretty tough. Consequently I felt rather unprepared for the Wimbledon 5k on Sunday, and struggled quite a lot. It was a beautiful trail route though, which I enjoyed nonetheless. Full race recap to come!
We ran past this lake, gorgeous! This pic was taken by someone else though, it was nowhere near this sunny and nice on Sunday!
I went to two more Crossfit Elements classes this week, where I made my shoulders achey again!
The first class had a workout focusing on strength rather than speed- 3 reps of split jerks at a time, increasing the weight 5 times.
I started with a 15kg bar, then added 2.5kg at each end, then another 2.5kg which turned out to be a little optimistic! So I came back down to 22kg for the last two sets of three. I was ok with that though- I feel like technique is much more important at this stage, when the moves are so unfamiliar.
Split Jerk

WOD:
Split jerk
3- 15kg
3- 20kg
3- 25kg (fail)
3- 22kg
3- 22kg

We also did a lot of double under practise on Wednesday- I managed one but I think it was a fluke as I couldn't repeat it! They're so hard - like patting your head and rubbing your stomach! I'm tempted to get a skipping rope and practise at home... πŸ™‚

Double Unders = Jump and swiftly swing rope around body and under feet twice before landing. Repeat.

Thursday's class also featured Double Unders!

A s well as a pyramid type workout, starting with 10 (or 20) reps decreasing down to 1 (or 11).

WOD:
10-1 Deadlifts
20-1 Double Unders
10-1 Push ups

I used 15kg for the deadlifts but could probably have gone a little heavier, although I finished roughly in the middle of the group at 8:02mins. I didn't manage anymore double unders though, sticking with single skips.

PS. In case you were wondering, "Skin The Cat" is a gymnastics move on the rings - I couldn't do it! But here's how it should look:

Ouch! I just had fun playing on the rings and trying to lift my feet up- that was hard enough!
