This week was the first time I'd made it to 3 Crossfit classes in one week, and after the Race for Life last Sunday, it also meant I worked out 5 days in a row! That's pretty much something of a record for me! I consequently felt great, and simultaneously tired and achey π
I really want to keep it up though- a) to get my money's worth from Crossfit, and b) of course, to get fitter and stronger! Hopefully the back to back sessions, provided they're not working exactly the same muscles will train my body to recover quicker.
Wednesday I also squeezed in a 2mile run after work in my new On running shoes, whilst listening to the Wimbledon Quarter-Finals (Murray vs Verdasco) on 5 Live - it definitely made me run faster in the nail-biting bits!

I'm enjoying testing out my new On's - it's a bit too soon to give a proper full review, but they're definitely unlike anything I've run in before.
The "Clouds" on the base look funky and give you a little extra spring in your step due to their patented "cushioned landing, barefoot takeoff design." I could really feel it on the pavements and roads I ran on on Wednesday.
When you land the rubber elements cushion forces to allow for a soft landing, whilst the "teeth" within the Clouds lock firm to provide a strong and stable foundation for pushing off again.
The Clouds are also designed to act as stability balls enabling you to stabilise your footstrike without artificial support. It's a very different system to any running shoe I've come across before, and I'm excited to see how they perform over the next few months!
The only criticism I have so far is the shoe is quite narrow across the front for me (I have wide feet) and I could see myself getting numb toes if I ran long distances in them. But we'll see - some more runs are needed! π
Saturday's Fitness Festival was held at Surrey Sportspark in Guildford. Unfortunately I had the tail end of a migraine and really didn't feel like exercising, but went along as I'd paid for the ticket and I wanted to see what was on offer.

There was a great timetable of classes and I'm sad I couldn't stay for more. I did manage to get to a Body Attack class however (see pic below!)- this is a high energy interval training workout combining aerobic movements with strength and stabilisation exercises.

I also listened to a seminar from the head of the Running School which was really interesting and informative. I could do with someone teaching me how to run properly!
Do you think that running should be "taught" as other sports are? What classes do you enjoy? Have you tried running in On shoes ?

NB: I was given a pair of "On Cloudsters" to try out, but as always all opinions are my own.
