2XU compression leg sleeves are designed for recovery -
"Extremely powerful + durable compression garments engineered to optimise circulation and heighten oxygen delivery. With graduated engineering + rigit knit construction. Refresh Compression garments are ideal for athletes with high performance demands."
Research suggests that there is a reduction in muscle soreness 24hrs after a hard workout when wearing graduated compression clothing, due to increased blood flow to the muscles. A recent study on elite male rugby players showed that compression garments had better recovery rates than all other recovery strategies 36-84hours post-match.
It's possible that the real benefits of compression can be attributed to the placebo effect, but this doesn't make it any less significant. If you believe they're going to help, then there's a psychological boost!
And that in my mind, makes them even more worthwhile.

Me rocking the "PJs and compression leg sleeves" look |
I have a pair of
Zensah calf sleeves,
Cep compression socks and now the 2XU compression leg sleeves. I love all of them, and was especially impressed with the sleeves due to the extended length up my thighs, which offers more support around my knees and quads. They only come in one size (length-wise) and you choose the width fitting, to make sure the compression is tight enough, by measuring your calves. This means they're a tad long for a shorty like me so I had to fold them over at the top to make them comfortable.
The graduated compression means the sleeves are tightest at the ankles and become slightly less towards the top of the leg to promote increased circulation. I found the fit to be snug, secure and to my mind, made a real difference to how achey my legs felt the next day! Especially now I'm doing Crossfit three times a week, and running (and now cycling) anything which could help me to recover quicker is a bonus!
The sleeves are seamless so there is no rubbing and the fabric is moisture wicking so they don't make you too hot and sweaty either.
The sleeves retail for Β£40, and you can check them out and all the other 2XU compression clothing
here.
Do you wear compression garments to work out, or for recovery?

NB: I was sent a pair of 2XU compression leg sleeves to try out but as always all opinions are my own.
