"Yoga for Runners + Sports Open
How Laura Denham Jones teaches this class:This innovative and dynamic yoga class is grounded in biomechanics, sports psychology and philosophy, and aims to enhance running and sports performance, both physically and mentally. A typical class will include creative sun salutations and standing poses to develop balanced strength and coordination, core and upper body work for improved posture, and slow, floor-based postures to maintain range of motion and release tension โ yogaโs answer to a sports massage! Youโll be encouraged to develop patience, focus and the respectful awareness of breath and body needed to safely explore and enjoy your athletic potential both on and off the mat."
This was a fairly chilled out week of workouts. As I don't have any races in the imminent future, I'm running when I (and my knee) feel like it/I can fit it in, and enjoying yoga and walking.
My Mum and I |
My family came to visit on Saturday and I took them to Hampton Court and Bushy Park for a lovely wander round.
Me and my sister |
We walked past the outside of Hampton Court Palace and the Maze, (but didn't go in) then headed over the road to Bushy Park.
We walked a route something like this... |
I think it's amazing to have this huge green space to escape to, right on the edge of the City. You wouldn't know you were so close to skyscrapers and motorways when you're wandering around such a beautiful tranquil landscape.
I love coming to walk and run around Bushy Park, and was really happy to share it with my parents - my Dad especially loved taking photos of all the deer, who were more than happy to pose apparently!
Herds of Red and Fallow deer roam around the park and their grazing is essential to maintain the high wildlife value of the grassland. There are currently around 320 deer and Sep-Oct is their "rutting" season when the males roar, bark and clash antlers in a spectacular way in an attempt to fight off rivals and attract as many females as possible!
This one looked especially ridiculous after rubbing his antlers on a plant and walking off with half of it still on his head! He was completely unphased by us all laughing at him!
Where do you "escape to" in your City? Or do you live in the country? Having moved from Norfolk I do miss the countryside sometimes, but with places like this around you can have the best of both worlds - the greenery and open spaces, and the proximity to the excitement of London! ๐

PS. Thanks Dad for letting me use your photos!
