It's important to take care of your feet once you start stepping up the mileage week by week, and although most people will have had gait analysis to ensure your running shoes are properly fitted, sometimes the importance of socks is overlooked!
Blisters can be a nightmare situation however, and although fortunately I haven't suffered from any yet I'm happy to be prepared now to avoid any future issues.
Problem: Blisters
Blisters can seriously ruin a run and leave you hobbling across the finish line of a race, but are easy to prevent. The first thing to check is that your shoes are a good fit and there is no uneven material or damage to the shoe that is causing the friction on your foot. If the shoes seem fine, inspect your socks. Blisters result from excessive friction against the skin so look out for double-layer, friction-reducing running socks to dramatically reduce the risk of blisters.
SOLE Solution
SOLE's Dual Layer socks have two layers of blended Tactel, Coolmax and Lycra that reduce friction on the skin and prevent blisters from developing. They have a TensorFit arch band that ensures the socks stay in place and provide additional support. The seamless technology gives added comfort, the super soft materials wick away moisture and the mesh panels in the socks ensure feet stay cool and dry.
I've worn these on every run since I received them, and honestly they're so comfortable you forget you're wearing them! The material is super soft, my feet don't feel sweaty and (touch wood) no blisters!
They even have "L" and "R" for left and right on them... |
