Breville Blend Active - Smoothie Time!

As the weather gets warmer I always feel more inclined to eat fresh fruit, salads and smoothies!

My recent purchase of the Breville Blend-Active is making this even easier than before, and I'm excited to make "Smoothie of the Week" a potentially regular post...

The Blend-Active is an individual sized blender, which gives you one-person-portion drinks- great for breakfast on the go, or to take to the gym.

It's so simple to use as well- I hate faffing around with lots of bits and pieces, but with this blender you just put your ingredients into the bottle, attach the blade cap, turn it upside down and put onto the blender base unit. And then blend! (Note: you have to hold the button down for as long as you want it to blend, rather than press on-and-off)

You can then replace the blade lid with a sports bottle leakproof lid and take your smoothie with you πŸ™‚

I've tested the blades on frozen fruit and granola and it's small but powerful! It easily blends through them, and apparently works just as well on ice cubes and nuts too, for a super smooth smoothie.

The blender comes with two 600ml bottles, which have easy measuring guides on the side, and also supposedly fit into most car and bike cup holders- I'll have to test this out!

One of my favourite things about this blender however is the lack of washing up! It's so easy to clean- just one bottle and lid. Give it a quick rinse then put a drop of washing liquid into the bottle with some water, pop the bottle back on the blender and press the button for 30 seconds and hey presto, the bottle is clean! Magic πŸ™‚ And one of the reasons I will be using this blender so often throughout the summer.

I've tried a couple of my own experimental recipes so far, but the Breville Blend-Active actually comes with a handy list of recipes in the Instruction Manual as well as there being more ideas on their website, Creative Kitchen. I love the sound of the Protein Rich Shake- peanut butter, banana, oats- it's like my porridge in a smoothie!

Smoothie of the Week

Enjoy!
