May Goals: Half Marathon Time!

I've been trying to set monthly goals this year instead of one big New Years Resolution- I find it helps keep me motivated, and if one month goes badly, the start of a new one is a chance for a fresh beginning πŸ™‚

May has quite a few exciting events, not least the culmination of my latest training journey to my very first Half Marathon!

To say I'm getting a little apprehensive now would be an understatement, but with a couple of ten milers under my belt, I know I will finish- even if it's not particularly fast. And after running with my brother last week, I'm really looking forward to our team effort.

Also in May (this weekend in fact) I'm heading to Geneva for my first "race-cation", my first abroad race with the TNR gang. I should have a couple of posts about this up next week, but I'm so excited to run somewhere new! I'm taking on a 5k on the Saturday, and am running the final leg of the Relay Marathon with 3 other girls on the Sunday - complete with matching tops πŸ™‚

I haven't been back to Crossfit as many times as I was hoping since restarting my membership - things have been pretty busy, and I also have a small amount of "fear" about it. This might sound silly, and it's not that Crossfit is inherently dangerous, but I need to get to the start line of that Half Marathon in one piece!! I cancelled my last class before the Geneva Weekend, because I didn't want to be struggling with DOMS and not be able to run properly. Perhaps I should have put one of my goals as "man up"! I do really love the Crossfit atmosphere and I think I'll just take it easy for the next few weeks and enjoy myself πŸ™‚

Yoga is something that I haven't had problems getting to, Bikram once a week and the odd different class to try out new studios. I took my sister to a Vinyasa Flow class at Jiva Health in Wimbledon last week when she was visiting- definitely somewhere I'd go back to, and they have a 10days for Β£25 introductory offer at the moment...

Perhaps my body is just craving a bit more relaxation right now after all the madness of the last few months, and trying to keep on top of my exercise schedule. I'm happy to oblige! And in fact, have booked a 1night Spa Break with some work friends for the weekend after my Half Marathon- a perfect post-race treat for my legs, I can't wait!

What are you looking forward to in May? Do you have the  "fear" before a big race? I equally don't want to get ill, and am trying to eat well and take vitamins every day too!
