October Goals: Time for Something Different

We're already well into October, but I thought I'd outline my goals for this month, which I've made a pretty good start on!

After training for Ealing Half Marathon I felt it was time to mix things up a little and let running take a back-seat for a while, so here's what's on the agenda...

Recover from Ealing Half Marathon
I wanted to make sure after running Ealing Half Marathon my hip felt OK, and that I recovered reasonably quickly. As I mentioned in last weeks post, a short break at the seaside and some sensible recovery methods seem to have left my legs feeling pretty good!

Go to Spinning 2/3 times per week
I was lucky enough to be offered a 6 week Edge Cycle membership after my review of the studio and I'm so excited to make the most of this! I love their high intensity Bootcamp classes and have already been to 2 sessions last week.

Go to Yoga once a week
Although I do the odd Yoga video at home (My Yoga Pro is great!), I want to attend a regular longer class so I really see some improvement in my practise, and also to make sure I actually do it! There's a convenient studio next to Wimbledon station (Jiva Health) which I'm going to try out- they offer a beginner's Vinyasa Flow on a Monday, a Yin and Yang Yoga session on a Thursday evening and a full Yin Yoga session on a Sunday afternoon - so I'm hoping to make it to at least one of these every week depending on what else I'm doing!

Be a Parkrun tourist
I'm not going to completely stop running, and if I feel like lacing up my running shoes I'm definitely not going to ignore that urge! However, I'm intending to take a break from long distances for a while and as part of this I want to try out a few different local parkruns. I've already made it to Roundshaw Downs for the 10th parkrun Anniversary, and am keen to tick a few more off the list this month.

Let me know what your Autumn goals are in the comments below! And get in touch if  you fancy a parkrun/yoga/spinning date anytime πŸ™‚

Great goals! I think for me, it'd be to continue focusing on my school studies. Make sure I can get this sports nutrition class completed before our little girls make their apperance πŸ™‚

    My Autumn goals -

Get back on the strength & conditioning to make me strong enough for marathon training
Get to bed earlier (either at or before 11pm)
Get back on the morning workouts (dependent on bed times working out!)
Do yoga at least once a week

Good luck with your goals! x

    Great goals Beki! Mine are:

    - run twice a week - after my 10K success I want to keep up the momentum!
    - enter some winter and spring races with a view to (eek) doing a half next year
    - take yoga down a notch and do some hatha classes - feel like I was getting caught up with lots of running and high-intensity yoga - all too much!
    - tying in with last one - not try to do everything and accept that I can't!! (I'm bad at saying no to things!)

Look forward to hearing how yours go this month!

I'm really bad at going to be early enough too! Perhaps this should be one of my goals, haha πŸ™‚ Good luck Tess! x

Some great goals there Lou- a half next year sounds like an awesome target! And I agree about taking the yoga down a bit if everyone else is quite high intensity- I'm loving Yin and Restorative yoga at the moment, its so relaxing and a great deep stretch for tired legs.

    Good luck! x
