Joggbox December Review

Joggbox is the first monthly subscription box in the UK designed for runners and aspiring athletes. Each month, you receive a box filled with new and exciting running products, containing everything from energy products, gels, chews, protein shakes/supplements, nutrition bars, and a lot of other accessories!

I was sent December's Box, but had a lot going on over Christmas so I saved the review for the New Year. And even better, you can now get your first box for Β£10 in their January Sale! Just use the coupon "10box" (usual price Β£15 plus p&p)

December Joggbox Contents

Food

Oats + Chia porridge sachets- these are all gone! I used them for pre-run breakfasts, or before work- they're super quick as you just need to add boiling water. I did bulk them up on occasion with a banana or some nut butter, but the combination of oats and chia seeds mean that you stay full for a long time, and the mixed berry flavour is pretty tasty.

Chia Shots- a useful travel portion of chia seeds which can added to porridge, smoothies or to make the mango strawberry chia pudding recipe listed the Joggbox Guide!

MyProtein bites (sour cream and spring onion)- these savoury snacks provide over 15g of protein in each 30g pack. I haven't tried them yet, but I imagine they would be a great post-workout salty snack.

For Goodness Shakes protein sachets- just add water to create a high protein, low fat drink which is ideal for recovery and muscle fatigue after a hard session. Again I haven't tried these yet as I only really used protein shakes when I was doing Crossfit, so I'm not sure about the taste, but they come in strawberry and chocolate.

Other

Nathan Hyperbrite Strobe- I reviewed a lot of Nathan gear recently, and am a big fan of their reflective and night running products. The lights are very bright, and easily clip onto your clothes or bag.

Better You Magnesium Oil- I got some of this from the Vitality Show a couple of years ago- it's supposed to help replace magnesium lost through sweat, and reduce muscle soreness. It comes in a spray bottle and you apply it after showering onto achey areas- I can't say I ever noticed any difference when using it before, but I'm willing to give it another go!

BLK Alkaline Fulvic Trace Mineral Infused Water- this little bottle of black water looks a bit scary! It is apparently what happens when fulvic trace minerals are added to pure water, and is a great choice to replenish electrolytes after a workout. Let's hope it doesn't dye my tongue black!

Fit Naturally Marathon Training Plan- this 12-week marathon training plan gives you all the sessions to achieve a 4hour marathon. I'm not intending to run one any time soon so unfortunately it's not much use to me, but it's a nice addition if you've got one coming up and need a little guidance.

I love the idea of Joggbox- there are so many subscription boxes now, encompassing beauty like Birchbox, Graze, the My Little Box lifestyle box, and increasing numbers of healthy snackboxes such as the Primal Snackbox, Nutribox, Naturebox- the list goes on!

I think that a subscription service for runners is a unique addition to the market and I love that it doesn't just include food- getting surprise treats each month is exciting! This particular month didn't grab me hugely, with the Oats + Chia sachets being the only thing I would repurchase, but I've seen photos of previous boxes with massage balls, body glide, Pulsin bars, KT tape and Nuun so it's a bit hit and miss I guess. I would love if it could be tailored more to your race targets, whether that's marathons, speedy 5k's or trail running, but as a relatively new company their success seems to be growing so maybe that's on the cards!

What do you think of subscription boxes? Have you tried Joggbox?
