February Goals (My Birthday!)

The first month of 2015 has gone so quickly! It hardly feels like moments ago we were all sitting down to turkey and mince pies, surrounded by baubles and tinsel.

February is a fun month for me as it involves my birthday- I’ll be turning 28 on the 28th this year, (eek!) and will most definitely be consuming lots of chocolate cake!

And of course Brighton Half Marathon is coming up which I’ve been training for for the last few months. I do have a time goal in mind, but at the end of the day, I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t achieve it. I want to enjoy the race and not feel such a huge amount of pressure that I can’t soak up the atmosphere and have fun! I’m so excited to run next to the sea- I love the beach, I literally can’t help smiling when I hear the waves and smell that salty air πŸ™‚

Brighton isn’t quite Australia, but hey, I love all beaches!

These were my January Goals.

February mostly involves continuation– I’m striving for consistency with my fitness training, and building good habits in my personal life.

Fitness

  • Continue running three times a week as part of Jantastic and run a strong race at Brighton
  • Complete the Believe: Yoga for Runners course with Erin of Jasyoga. I have 2 more sessions left, and so far it’s been brilliant- I’ll be sad to stop going, but I’ve learnt so much! I’m going to put together a blog post at the end with some key takeaway points, so stay tuned for that. The final session is the day after Brighton Half Marathon, when I’m sure my legs will be crying out for some restorative yoga!

Lifestyle

I did pretty well with my other goals in January that were more lifestyle orientated- I definitely made an effort to try and prepare my lunches on most weekdays, and probably had 1 or 2 nights a week without TV. I’d like to continue with this, as it’s hopefully now developing into a good habit!

This month I want to focus onΒ Blogging…

This free blog planner is from everydayenchanting.com

  • Become more organised and build some structure into my blogging schedule. At the end of last year I started writing a monthly plan for blog posts but this has slipped a bit, and I’ve found myself hurriedly putting things together at the last minute, or realising I haven’t yet reviewed something I should have done. I know blogging should be fun, and you don’t have to write to a schedule, but I like to develop a bit of a routine. I try and blog Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but I’ve struggled recently with a lack of motivation. Or the urge to write comes along at the most awkward times- not when I actually sit down and think,”now I should write a blog post”! I guess I should go with the flow, but it can be difficult when I want to break off from what I should be doing at work to make some notes on electrolyte tabs, or how it feels to run with asthma, or how great these new running leggings are!
Personal
  • Show myself some love– OK, this is a bit of a cheesy one, but it seemed fitting what with February being the month of love! I’m treating myself to a Spa Day on my birthday which definitely fits in the category of pampering and affection, but I also want to cut myself a break mentally too- try and eliminate the negative thoughts that crop up, and focus on the things I love about me πŸ™‚ It also links back to my word for the year “Believe”, and believing in myself a little more. Check out this great post by Jessica Says for some more ideas on how to get started on your Self-Love journey.
If you have any advice on developing some structure in blogging or helping me to harness the inspiration let me know in the comments!

  1. I totally get what you mean about blogging. I try and set myself particular days to blog but I end up not committing to that what with work and with study! I also get the urge to write posts at not convenient times of the day! Usually when running or when cycling home from work – I always have to dash in to write a note so I don't forget ideas!I also think focussing on self-love in February is a great idea. It's something I struggle with as well – negative thoughts in particular! So thanks for the reminder πŸ™‚ Happy birthday month too! 28 is a great age – enjoy! x

  2. At the moment I do a jantastic review each week, when I remember it! But I don't like to have a regular routine really- I blog when I have the time as really it is for me. I used to do WIAW but got a bit bored, and also kept forgetting as Wednesdays always came around so quickly!

  3. The weeks do seem to go so quickly don't they! I agree that blogging when you feel like it works better sometimes- I'm trying to write several at once when I'm on a roll, and save them to publish later on.
