Fulham Palace parkrun
During my park run exploration I’ve run a few different courses, and love the concept - but I haven’t made it along to one of the free Saturday 5ks for a while.
So when Charlie offered the incentive of a free Puma t-shirt as well as the chance to catch up with friends, I jumped at the opportunity of adding a new park run to my tally.
It was a gorgeous morning - sunny and warm and I almost wished I’d worn shorts!
I met Charlie, Becs, Cara and several other of Charlie’s running friends at the start line of Fulham Palace parkrun - it was an easy 10minute walk from Putney Bridge tube station, and there were the usual marshalls in yellow jackets as well as a tarpaulin on the ground for people to leave their bags.
Charlie gave us all pink Puma Run Faster t-shirts as part of her #igniteLondon campaign to get people running - these were a great fit, cool and sweat wicking and comfortable to run in. I loved the slogan too even if I wasn't running very fast!

I ran without music and chatted to one of Charlie's friends, who stuck with me even though I was a lot slower than her. She helped keep me going and pace me to a sub 34min 5k (11min/mile) which is good for me considering the lack of training I've been doing recently! My PB is 31:31 (10min/mile) from the Greenwich Xmas 5k which quite honestly I have no idea how I achieved!
The course of Fulham Palace parkrun is almost 3 laps, around the park and along the Thames Path next to the river. I love running in this part of London and have done several long runs around here. It was very relaxing running next to the water on a gorgeous Saturday morning, watching the sailing boats.
And of course, we followed up with coffee and cake at the nearby Fulham Palace Walled Garden cafe - I opted for a Little Miracles green tea and banana, pecan and honey cake as it sounded the most “breakfast-like” and slightly more acceptable than the gooey chocolate brownies at 10 in the morning…
Did you parkrun this weekend?

I love parkrun! I pretty much do it every Saturday as there's one only a 10 minute drive from me and a lot of my club do it, so it's very sociable and fun. I'm part of the set-up crew so go down there a bit earlier and it's a great way to chat and catch up with people.
Love the t-shirt!
I miss park run! I've only been once or twice but now I have moved there is not one (really) close to me! Once I stop working Saturdays too I will be able to get out more! Look forward to your next tourist stop! 🙂 x
I love parkrun! I go when I am free, although I went last weekend and it was very hot, so this weekend I am tail running and next weekend I am marshaling (I have races on both Sundays so thought it would be sensible- otherwise I get a bit over excited and go a bit too fast).
Cake afterwards sounds fab too! I have only been to the two closest ones to me, but a newer one about half an hour recently started, and I am hoping to go to one in America in the summer.
