January Goals: Running and Yoogaia

Well January is rumbling along, and the first week back at work seems to have flown by!

I'm actually loving getting back into a healthy routine - making my packed lunches, and popping out for RUNches to discover new routes...

If you read my "Word for 2016" blog post on Monday you will know I've got big plans to get back on my feet this year.  Here are my January Goals to ensure I hit the ground running (literally)!

Knee Injury

  • Go to the gym once a week for a purely rehab focused session
  • Go to Body Pump once a week for strength training
  • Take part in the Yoogaia 21 Day Yoga Challenge (more info below) to develop a regular yoga practise

Fitness

  • Run two-three times a week gradually increasing the distance to complete the Winter Run 10k at the end of the month
  • Try to get between 8000-10,000 steps on days I don't run, taking a lunchtime walk to get active

Healthy Eating

  • Take packed lunches to work every day - going well so far!
  • I struggle with a sweet tooth so am saying no to treats during the week (unless a special occasion), and stopping snacking after dinner
  • Continue to make use of my slow cooker, a brilliant Christmas present from my parents - I’ve made a chorizo bean stew, ratatouille and apple cinnamon porridge so far!

Lifestyle

  • Get to bed before 10:30pm on a weeknight
  • Arrange to get together with at least two friends for a catch-up
  • Read at least one book in January 🙂

YOOGAIA 21 DAY CHALLENGE

The Yoogaia 21 Day Challenge started on January 4th, and is designed to give new visitors to the Yoogaia website a taster of all the different yoga classes available. Each class in the #ExploreYoogaia challenge is just 15-20minutes long, so they're easy to fit into your day, and cover a wide range of types of yoga from Dynamic Yoga to Restorative, from Ab Focused Yoga to Yogic Sleep.

The challenge is the perfect way to create a New Year yoga routine - it takes 21 days to form a new habit and make a change in your life. Why not make it Yoogaia!

What I love about the site, that really sets it apart from other online yoga platforms, are the LIVE classes. You can choose to tune into a yoga class taught live and streamed direct to your laptop. The teacher can see how many students she is talking to, and you can even turn on your webcam if you want her to be able to offer corrections and guidance. This is a great idea if you're new to yoga or want the feel of a social class, but in the comfort of your own home!

All the live classes are recorded so you can go back to them at any time, so no need to worry that you've missed the first few days of the Yoogaia 21 Day Challenge, you can head to the recorded class list to catch up.

Sign up for your free 7 day trial now to give it a go, and maybe I'll see you on the mat!

What are your January plans? Have you every taken part in a Yoga Challenge?

Also, head over to my Instagram for the chance to win the #fitkit pictured at the top of this post from Hey Holla, perfect for kickstarting your New Year goals!

Great goals! I need to get back to a proper routine with body pump, as I try and go once a week too, and love it but towards the end of the year things kept coming up on Thursdays so I could not go.
Earlier nights is also a great goal and something I am always aiming for!
