The New Forest : Ponies and Fun

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend!
Hope you've all got a great weekend planned- I'm chilling out Saturday and Sunday and then running the She Runs Windsor 10k on Monday - I feel woefully under-prepared but am trying not to stress too much, and just go and enjoy the atmosphere! It should be a beautiful place to run around if nothing else.
Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the photos and places that Mark and I went on our long weekend in the New Forest a couple of weeks ago (read, lots of pictures of ponies!). I will get around to my Spain photos eventually this weekend hopefully!
Lyndhurst
We stayed at The Meadows Bed and Breakfast (review here) in Lyndhurst which is a small town/village at the centre of the New Forest. There's a circular walk you can do around the town taking in some of the scenery, and several pubs! On the afternoon we arrived we did the start of this walk, which goes up to Bolton's Bench (a bench on a hill around a large tree) and gives good views, as well as several encounters with ponies 🙂

The next day we spent driving around the New Forest, stopping at various points for short walks, including at Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, although we didn't see any deer. They do have feeding times, but I guess we missed that.

We went through the village of Beaulieu which was especially picturesque, and had donkeys randomly grazing and wandering up the high street!

We ended up at Lepe Country Park, on the coast, which had great views across to the Isle of Wight.

On our second day we took a detour on the way home to stop at Milford-on-Sea where we wandered along a very blustery English beach before getting fish and chips from "Mister Pinks" in the village! 🙂

A fun couple of days exploring somewhere new!

I love taking long weekends in the UK, as there's still so many places I haven't been- any recommendations? 🙂
