Ohso Chocolate: Review

A chocolate bar that's good for you?

Sounds too good to be true!
Well, with the newly developed Ohso chocolate bar, that's exactly the idea.
The Ohso chocolate bar is made from 53% Belgian dark chocolate, which in itself is a great food product containing antioxidants to help strengthen your body's natural defenses.
On top of this the Ohso chocolate bar also contains probiotics, the good bacterial cultures found in some yoghurt drinks which can supposedly help assist the body in re-establishing the proper balance necessary for optimal intestinal function and good health.
According to their data, Ohso chocolate bars are 3 times more effective at delivering your daily dose of  these "friendly bacteria" than a typical dairy product, as the chocolate matrix offers more protection for the bacteria in your stomach!
The bars also have no added dairy and are gluten, nut and wheat free so many people can enjoy them πŸ™‚
The idea is that you buy a pack of "7 Daily Ohso bars" so you can get your daily dose of healthy chocolate and probiotics. Each bar is individually wrapped and contains 72 calories.

I was a little sceptical about the concept of "healthy chocolate" and didn't have high expectations for flavour, but I was pleasantly surprised. It actually doesn't taste any different to normal dark chocolate, and I am especially a fan of the orange flavour πŸ™‚

The bars are quite tiny weighing only 13.5g, but are the perfect size for a little chocolate treat, and as dark chocolate is quite rich you normally wouldn't want to eat more than this anyway.
The only thing I would say is that I'm not sure about the concept of "taking" chocolate every day, like a medicine. For me, chocolate is a treat, a luxury- I don't eat it every day, and if I did it might stop being so special. And I'm not sure that people would buy this instead of other chocolate bars, more as well as because it's "good for you". Finally at Β£3.99 for 7 small bars, it is a reasonably expensive habit to develop.

Having said that though, I thought it was a really original and great concept, to try and incorporate more health benefits into treat foods. Plus the chocolate was really tasty!
