I scaled back the running workouts a little this week, as I have been having some problems with my right foot that I'm not sure about so I'm taking it a bit easier. Monday's run was really good though- 2 miles in the sunshine at work which was really nice! I've definitely missed my lunchtime runs, but things have been a bit hectic at the new job so I haven't felt I can get away until now. I'll definitely have to try and fit more of them in, as it's great to get out the office and get some fresh air.
Wednesday I used the Nike Training Club app to do a little circuits workout at home.
The app is great with more than 114 built-in workouts, with detailed instructions and audio support. It gives you videos to illustrate moves if you're unsure, and counts down the time.
You can also select your own music on your phone/device to workout too as well. Workouts are 30-45mins, as well as some 15min targeted workouts, such as abs. It's definitely an intense session and really great if you're pushed for time! Most don't require any equipment, although you can add in dumbells, medicine balls, kettlebells to up the difficulty! (see below)
I got a bit confused by my treadmill workout at the gym on Sunday- I'm still not sure whether it was recording in kms or miles, so I was either super fast or super slow (probably the latter)! Either way, it was a really good gentle run followed by a fun if slightly frustrating workout on the TRX.
The TRX is a suspension trainer which is designed to provide versatile scaleable workouts which utilise only your bodyweight. Mark is especially keen on it, as you can purchase a travel pack which enables you to take it anywhere and keep working out when you're away (something he does a lot of!). I have to admit I found it a little awkward, but I am definitely lacking in upper body strength and a lot of the moves are focused on holding yourself up by your arms. It's something I'd try again though, as I'm sure as you got more familiar with it (and less worried you were going to fall on your face!) it would become more natural. You can definitely feel your muscles working!
Here are some more exercise ideas using the TRX.
