I love my coffee and cake dates!
I love having a great local coffee shop to chill out in, whether to read a book by myself and just watch the world go by, or to have long discussions with friends. They're great social venues, but the coffee and cake themselves have to be up to scratch of course to keep you going back!
Consequently finding somewhere great in London was definitely on my list!
Flours is an Artisan Bakery in Walton on Thames, not far from us, and stocks the most amazing looking freshly baked bread.
We stopped off there for a lazy weekend coffee break (after unpacking a million boxes!)
I had a latte, which I drank without sugar, which for me is a definite sign of a good coffee that's not too bitter. It was creamy and served in a large mug.
They have long chunky wooden tables and benches, with fur rugs on some of them, and quirky features like a "help yourself toast station" complete with peanut butter and marmalade π
I had a slice of apple cake, and Mark had a chocolate tiffin, both served on wooden boards. They had a pretty good selection of cakes, and while mine was a bit dry where it didn't have the moist apple slices I'd still go back to try some of the others, or test their soup-of-the-day with some crusty bread!
Definitely nice to have somewhere like this on your doorstep, and while it's a little expensive for cake, the coffees are reasonable at about Β£2. It's OK to treat yourself once in a while! π
Have a great weekend!
