The River Garden Pub
Our new house is within stumbling distance of several pubs and we decided to try out one yesterday evening. The initial intention was to go and grab a drink, peruse their menu and generally get a feel for the place and if we liked it and the food looked appetising we'd stay for dinner. You can guess what happened!
The pub had a cosy atmosphere, with areas of it looking like someone's front room rather than a pub! It was nice though, and I liked the little touches such as a sweet shop behind the bar with jars of mini eggs and things... It seemed like there were quite a few locals too who knew each other and added to the friendly vibe.
The restaurant is a reasonable size and was quite busy for a Tuesday night which is always a good sign. It had cute fairy lights in the roof which was wooden and felt a bit tropical. They have a pretty big beer garden right on the river (hence the name!) which I can imagine is heaving in the summer when the weather is more favourable. I can see us coming down here Sunday afternoons and bagging a table!
I had a Koppaberg Strawberry & Lime (very refreshing) and then we ordered food. Fish pie for Mark, and a roasted vegetable and goats cheese pizza for me.
Super cheesy which is definitely a plus point! The base was a little too thin for me, I like a more doughy pizza but overall pretty good pub food. I think we'll be back π
