With only a couple of days left of this year it's time for the annual recap and reflect of 2015 - I always love to scroll back through my blog posts picking out the highlights, and rediscovering things that I'd forgotten I did! It's amazing how much things change within the short space of a year.
Here's a short summary of some of my favourite posts from this year.
January
- I set my word for the year - BELIEVE - to help me achieve my goals.
- My first race of the year was the super muddy Trailscape Ashurst 10k.
February
- February kicked off with another fun race, the London Winter Run 10k, complete with polar bear hugs and snow zones.
- I then ran and smashed my goal time at Brighton Half Marathon at the end of the month!
March
- For the first two months of the year I attended the Jasyoga Yoga for Runners course every Monday evening which I believe had a lot to do with my PB at Brighton.
- Classpass came to London and I signed up for all the classes!
- I also went on the amazing Sally Parkes Relax and Restore Yoga Retreat as a reward for my hard work leading up to Brighton Half.
April
- Continuing my month of Classpass I headed to the new 1Rebel studio to try Ride and Reshape .
- I also went mountain biking round Bewl Water, taking on some muddy but scenic trails.
- And watched the London Marathon, cheering on many Team Naturally Run ladies!
- My month of Classpass came to an end - here's my Cost Analyis - but I decided to sign up for a further 6 months and try some more studios.
May
- This was when everything changed in my career- April and May were pretty stressful so attending the Savasana to Spa event with Secret Urban Escape was a lovely break.
- The Wings for Life World Run was definitely a unique race experience as well, being chased by a car!
- I was made redundant from the Oil and Gas industry, so took the leap to try something different. I interviewed, was offered and accepted a job in Fitness PR.
- And to round off a hectic month, I did Run Hackney half marathon with one of my best friends, as her first half marathon!
June
- In the summer sunshine I headed out on my bike, tackling 40miles on the Worth and Forest Way.
- I also went to the Isle of Wight Festival so had a few scheduled guest posts while I was away, followed by the Nike Women's 10k.
- I started my new job!
July
- I kicked off the month with some parkrun tourism at Fulham Palace.
- The British 10k was my final race of the summer, past the iconic sights of London.
- I rounded off the first crazy month in my new role, with a weekend away on the Revitalise Detox Yoga Retreat with Sally Parkes.
August
- I took part in a photoshoot for the This Girl Can campaign, meeting some other lovely running ladies. I still haven't seen my face on a billboard yet though!
- After signing up to the Shine Night Walk Half Marathon I started going on long walks each weekend, exploring the London LOOP and other trails.
- I shared a day in the Life of a Fitness PR in my new job.
September
- Some more walking along the Thames Path and Wandle Trail in preparation for the Shine Walk.
- I headed along to the newly opened 1Rebel studio in Broadgate to try out Rumble!
- After marshalling at the Women's Running 10k in Brockwell Park I shared my top tips.
- September was rounded off with the Shine Night Walk Half Marathon, a different sort of fitness challenge!
October
- Autumn saw less running (due to knee injury) and more yoga, with a lovely Yin Yoga session at Pop Brixton with Paula Hines.
- I also took a class with Tara Stiles at the Om Yoga Show at Alexandra Palace.
November
- November was definitely a month for relaxing and giving myself some "me-time". I went on holiday to Whitstable, which involved lots of walking, reading and cycling along the coast.
- I also went on a 1-night Spa Break to Champneys Tring which was lovely!
December
- To round off the year, I started running again with the Nathan Run Club at work and doing some rehab exercises for my knee.
- I even roped my colleagues into running a festive 5k with me in Greenwich Park as a perfect end to the year!
Over the last couple of years my life has definitely veered off the predictable path, but I'm pretty happy with how much fun I've had in 2015! And with how successful, hopefully, my career change has proven to be. The last few months have been quieter in terms of running and fitness challenges generally, so I'm hoping that I can fix up my knee and get back to a more active routine in the New Year.
I will be posting about my 2016 goals and ambitions next week, but for now please do share your favourite moments from 2015 below 🙂
Great post Beki, how lovely looking back at the year you've had! Here's to 2016! I'm looking forward to reading your goals post x
Thanks George! I'm excited to see what the next year brings 🙂 x
Wow, you've done so much! Looks like you had a great year--all the best in 2016. Hope lots more fun is in store for you!
I love reading these recap posts! Well done on such a fantastic year!
I was reminded looking back at my posts that I did the Kinetic revolution programme this time last year and I am sure that really helped with my faster times too- I think I need to look at doing it again.
