Traffic-free cycling: The Alban Way

September 13, 2019

The Alban Way is a 6.5 mile long traffic-free trail which runs from St Albans to Hatfield along a former railway line. It’s part of Route 61 of the Sustrans National Cycle Network and is used frequently by walkers and cyclists commuting or travelling between the two towns. The surface is a smooth tarmac/concrete, and … More Traffic-free cycling: The Alban Way

GetOutside Day at Centerparcs Woburn

October 18, 2018

Last month we headed to Centerparcs Woburn for a family holiday, which just happened to fall on the same weekend as the very first National GetOutside Day. An event organised by Ordnance Survey, GetOutside Day aims to encourage more people to get out of the house and explore the outdoors, and I have to say … More GetOutside Day at Centerparcs Woburn

Active Holiday in the Peak District

September 20, 2018

It seems to be a common theme at the moment that I’m writing blog posts about things that happened months ago! Working in events, the summer is a very busy time so my blogging has taken a little bit of a backseat. It’s also the case that the better weather means I’m out and about … More Active Holiday in the Peak District

Exploring Cheddar Gorge

The Brake Carriage and Cheddar Gorge

May 3, 2018

After discovering Deerland Safari last year through the Quality Unearthed website, I was keen to try another glamping experience! A couple of weeks ago, James and I headed down to The Brake Carriage on the outskirts of Glastonbury for a little Somerset adventure… The Brake Carriage The Brake Carriage is owned by the lovely Angela … More The Brake Carriage and Cheddar Gorge

Snowy adventures in Peak District

Snowy Adventures in the Peak District

April 3, 2018

Climbing Kinder Scout in the Peak District during an amber weather warning probably wasn’t the best decision we’ve ever made, but the weather has been so ridiculous lately that the prospect of another weekend stuck inside wasn’t very appealing. Plus, as long as you’re well prepared and sensible, there’s no reason why a snowy adventure … More Snowy Adventures in the Peak District

Weekend at Woburn CenterParcs

A weekend at CenterParcs Woburn Forest

October 11, 2017

Everyone has different family holiday traditions. When I was young, my family went to Haven caravan parks, and then rented holiday cottages once we were all a little older and too big to fit in a tiny caravan! Some people go abroad, others camping, some might go to the same place year on year and … More A weekend at CenterParcs Woburn Forest

Camping in the Forest of Dean

May 31, 2016

Sometimes it’s good to get away from it all. Even though I love London, the crowds and the crazy pace of life can leave me feeling drained after a while and I feel the need to escape. This is usually to somewhere with green fields, trees and open skies, or by the coast where I can listen … More Camping in the Forest of Dean

How Healthy Start Holidays helped me face my fears

March 29, 2016

If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you – I wrote a blog post for work recently on this theme. How sometimes we need to face our fears in order to move forward, and progress as a person. I definitely feel that this was the case with the active break I went on recently with … More How Healthy Start Holidays helped me face my fears

Keeping Active with Healthy Start Holidays

Keeping Active with Healthy Start Holidays

February 23, 2016

As much as I love sitting on a beach in the sunshine reading a good book, I don’t think that I could do it for a whole week- I would go a little stir-crazy! It’s definitely important to relax, but for me a holiday has to include some activity and exploration. I love seeing a new … More Keeping Active with Healthy Start Holidays
